Planning Permission Approved for Our Container

18 June 2026

We are very pleased to share some fantastic news: planning permission has now been approved for siting the Callander Area Men’s Shed container at Callander Golf Club!

This is a big step forward for the shed. The container gives us the beginnings of a real base, and having planning permission in place means we can start looking properly at the next stages of turning it into a useful space for members.

We are very grateful to Callander Golf Club for making space for us and supporting the idea from the start. We are also grateful to Kings Construction of Doune, who kindly donated the container and helped make this possible.

Many thanks also to Tim who made the application for the planning and who is now working on getting insurance sorted for the shed. Once we have insurance in place the shed can start to plan actual activities with members.

There is still plenty to do before the container becomes a working shed space. We will need to look at the jobs around renovating it, fitting it out, arranging power, making it safe and useful, and getting the right things in place so members can get involved properly.

In the meantime, the golf club has kindly said we can use the clubhouse for men’s shed meetings, which gives us a warm and welcoming place to start meeting while the container plans develop, and part of their outbuilding to store tools which will be very helpful when we start working on the container. We will share details of the next meeting as soon as they are confirmed.

It has taken a lot of small steps to get to this point, but this is a very important one. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, supported, and helped the shed so far.
